Beyerdynamic AVENTHO 100 Review – a versatile companion for everyday use

December 21, 2025

We recently received a pair of Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 headphones for review in our studio. So, today, we will discuss all of this headphone model's features and characteristics in depth. Yes, the editorial team at SoundGale.com typically only reviews professional audio equipment for musicians, DJs, and sound engineers. However, sometimes we come across some interesting consumer devices that are worth paying attention to.

When asked, “What are the most popular headphone models from the German company Beyerdynamic?” most people can immediately name two options: the DT 770 PRO and the DT 990 PRO (we have in-depth reviews of these headphone models). These two models have been on the audio market for over a decade, have undergone several reissues, and remain popular thanks to their build quality and versatility. The Beyerdynamic headphone lineup is much broader, of course, especially since it has grown significantly over the past decade. However, the company's main focus remains on full-size wired headphones.

The renowned German manufacturer with a 100-year history has also noticed the trend toward wireless audio transmission. However, we will not consider Beyerdynamic's TWS and wireless in-ear headphones, as this is a separate area. Therefore, we will focus only on two well-known wireless models: one full-size and one on-ear. In 2018, Beyerdynamic introduced a wireless version of the Amiron Home, the Amiron Wireless. These full-size audiophile headphones feature an open acoustic design and a robust construction intended for home use. As far as we can recall, the wired version of the Beyerdynamic Amiron was more popular among audio enthusiasts. The Beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless on-ear headphones are also worth mentioning, as they had fairly advanced features for the time, including support for the aptX HD codec, a USB-C charging port, an NFC module, and long battery life. Nevertheless, it seemed that Bluetooth® headphones were not a priority for the German company.

Now, especially this year, Beyerdynamic developers have allegedly begun to consciously and actively catch up in the portable audio sector, creating new true wireless (TWS) and other wireless headphones. Along with the new full-size wireless model, the Beyerdynamic Aventho 300, which boasts the slogan "Legendary Beyerdynamic Sound," the company also presented the new Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 on-ear headphones - with their "iconic look and uncompromised sound" (and Beyerdynamic Aventho 200 for which we have a separate review), it's quite an ambitious statement. Let's take a closer look and begin our Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 review with the specifications, before we move on to analyzing this device's main features.

Overall Build, Design & Ergonomics

The Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 headphones are packaged in a colorful, thick cardboard box. The color scheme, which is typical for Beyerdynamic packaging, is dominated by black, white, and orange. The box is informative, providing details about the technical specifications, configuration, and advantages of the model. It also provides a QR code for the smartphone control app. For those who care, the box is marked "Made in China."

The Aventho 100 comes with the following accessories: a soft, synthetic fabric carrying case; a cable with 3.5-mm plugs on both ends; and a USB-C to USB-A charging cable. While it seems that the main components are included, we have some comments. First, the case's appearance leaves something to be desired (Beyerdynamic has higher-quality soft cases). Second, the charging cable has a USB-A connector, which is outdated for 2025. Of course, neither of these comments is critical. However, if the Aventho 100 makes no compromises, we would like to see the same attitude applied to the included accessories.

Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 Overall Build, Design and Ergonomics

The Aventho 100's design is a whole other story for the developers at Beyerdynamic. To describe the headphones' design and overall impression, the Germans did not hold back on the superlatives: "iconic look," "stylish design that complements any outfit," "outstanding design quality," "timeless aesthetics," and "sleek and modern design." It should be noted that these were not just standard marketing phrases. The Aventho 100 model received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2025. As far as we can recall, the previous Aventho model received the same award in 2018.

Moving away from loud statements about design, let us share our opinion. The headphones really do stand out with their original appearance. They successfully combine materials, design elements, and colors. It's as if the modern and the past have been brought together. They are made of eco-leather, plastic, and metal. The model is available in three colors: black, brown, and cream.

The ear cups rotate and lie flat. The channels on the mesh covering the speakers are marked with large letters "R" and "L." The headband consists of two parts: the upper plastic part and the lower eco-leather part. The company name is embossed on the top of the headband, and the logos are printed in silver paint on the lower part. A distinctive feature of the retro design is the durable, fabric-insulated cable running from the headband to each ear cup. In our sample, the cable was bent asymmetrically, as if in different planes, which did not look aesthetically pleasing (though perhaps others would not have noticed). On the outer rim of the left ear cup are a USB-C connector and a 3.5-mm input. The right ear cup contains physical control buttons: one oblong button consisting of three parts and a separate multifunction button.

The eco-leather on the ear cups and headband feels nice to the touch, and the padding softly envelops the head and ears. The level of passive noise isolation is high. The headband slides apart and is adjustable. The headphones do not press on the head when worn, nor do they slip off. The physical buttons are easy to use, but you may need some time to get used to tactilely distinguishing the three parts of the elongated button - we'll discuss this further in the next section of our review of the Beyerdynamic Aventho 100.

Of course, the subjective nature of aesthetics and ergonomics makes evaluating headphones difficult, but it's worth mentioning that the Aventho 100 received top marks in these categories from our team at SoundGale.com.

Features & Functionality

Typically, modern Bluetooth headphones have controls on the headphones themselves and in an app. The Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 is no exception. The main controls are on the right ear cup. As mentioned above, the elongated main button is divided into three sections. The two outer buttons control the volume, and the multifunctional button between them controls music playback (start/stop), answering/ending calls, and Bluetooth pairing mode. Double pressing the multifunctional button skips to the next track, and triple pressing it skips to the previous track.

Another separate button turns the headphones on or off and changes ANC modes. When the headphones are turned on, a female voice in English says "Power On" and reports the remaining battery charge as a percentage. However, these figures may differ slightly from the corresponding values in the app. For example, the voice may announce a remaining charge of 80%, while the app shows 77%.

The voice also informs you when noise cancellation and transparency modes are activated. Neither mode is perfect, of course, but their performance is noticeable, and at least for us, they did not receive any particular criticism. Once again, we would like to remind you that the Aventho 100 has quite good passive noise isolation. Therefore, it is acceptable to listen to music with headphones while walking along a highway.

Beyerdynamic AVENTHO 100 app from app store

With the Beyerdynamic app, you can see the remaining battery life in percentage and hours, access the equalizer (five preset modes and a custom five-band equalizer are available), and change the noise cancellation and transparency modes from your smartphone. You can also assign functions to the multifunction button, select the automatic shutdown time for the headphones, control the LED backlight and prompts (select what will be announced by the voice assistant), and activate Low Latency mode. Currently, the assistant only supports two languages: English and German.

Voice transmission during phone calls is normal. Our conversation partners noted that they could hear our voice through the headphones, and that all the words were clear; we never had to ask them to repeat themselves. The headphones' battery life seems incredible. Since we don't use them all the time, one charge lasted more than a week. The headphones also have Google Fast Pair feature. Overall, the Aventho 100's functionality leaves a pleasant impression; its main modern features are present and implemented relatively well.

Sound Quality

Now we come to the most important part/section of our Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 review. Of course, everyone wants to know what the headphones sound like. Unfortunately, we don't see the point in providing a detailed description of these headphones' sound or evaluating their frequency response. After all, these are consumer devices intended for a wide range of users. Instead, we will simply convey our impressions of listening to them in as much detail as possible. When evaluating these headphones, it's important to remember that the Aventho 100 not only provide an "iconic look," but also allow you to "immerse yourself in pure soundscapes – with zero compromises," according to the manufacturer. Since the Aventho 100 are primarily wireless, this review will focus on their sound in that scenario.

The headphones produce clean, neutral sound suitable for many genres. While they are not a studio monitor model, the sound is detailed without delving into micro-nuances. At the same time, musical instruments do not blend together and can be separated into individual parts if desired. Vocals are reproduced naturally. The low frequencies are full-bodied and precise. The midrange is natural and clear. The high frequencies are detailed and lack the sharpness that some listeners notice in other Beyerdynamic models.

The wired connection via the included cable provides an additional use case for the Aventho 100. With a wired connection, the soundstage becomes wider and deeper, details become clearer, and the overall sound becomes more natural. Note that the headphones will play through the cable even when they are turned off. We enjoyed listening to the Aventho 100s through the cable.

The sound of the Aventho 100 cannot be described as clearly mainstream, nor can it be said that this model is specific to particular genres of music. In a sense, the Aventho 100 is a universal model.

Final Verdict on Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 Headphones

Now that we've reached the end of our Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 review, it's time to summarize the results. In our opinion, the Beyerdynamic Aventho 100 headphones have a good chance of becoming popular among fans of wireless on-ear headphones. They boast an original, understated vintage look; thoughtful ergonomics; a compact, foldable design; significant battery life; support for codecs that enable high-quality sound transmission; an ANC mode; and other features. Additionally, the Aventho 100 offers balanced sound and versatility in reproducing various genres.

We agree with Beyerdynamic's description of the Aventho 100 as a "versatile companion for everyday use." We recommend that anyone interested check out this model for themselves. We hope the Aventho 100 delights you.
