Following the release of the M6 model, Yamaha is expanding its updated MODX instrument line with the 76-key M7. The MODX line also features the 88-key M8 synthesizer.
Similar to the M6, the Yamaha MODX M7 features a semi-weighted FSB keyboard and comes with eight faders. It also has scene selection buttons that allow you to control arpeggio, motion sequences, super controller position, reverb, and other functions via part parameters. Like the entire MODX M series, the synthesizer boasts advanced quick editing capabilities as well as key hold and portamento control.

The main innovation in the line is the AN-X analog modeling sound engine, which has three oscillators, pulse width modulation (PWM), and oscillator synchronization. It complements the existing AWM2 and FM-X. Other features include ring and frequency modulation, two filters with ten types to choose from, a Waveshaper, a Wavefolder, adjustable Voltage Drift and Aging, and 10 GB of AWM2 wave presets from the MONTAGE M. It also has 1.9 GB of memory for storing user waves, is compatible with existing MONTAGE content, and has an expanded Softsynth plugin (ESP) that will be available in early 2026.
The Yamaha MODX M7 is available for purchase for around $2,200. For more detailed information about this synthesizer, please visit the product page on the official Yamaha website.
