u-he Uhbik 2 Public Beta Announced and New Interface Shown

May 15, 2025

At the last Superbooth 25 exhibition, the company discussed preparations for the release of the u-He Uhbik 2 plug-in set. The first demonstration of the updated effects also took place there.

Urs Heckmann, the head of u-he, presented Uhbik 2 during Superbooth 25. Later, Heckmann published a post on the KVR forum in which he provided additional information about the updated plug-ins and announced the imminent start of public beta testing of the effects.

The first release of the Uhbik plugin set by u-he took place in 2009. Despite their age, the developers continue to support the plug-ins by releasing updates and fixing bugs.

Uhbik 2's development began several years ago. During this time, the creators did not comment on the progress, only confirming that development of the updated version was underway.

The project has now reached its final stage, as was confirmed during the plugin demonstration at Superbooth 25. The composition of the second version of the kit and the updated effects interface were revealed there. The company also abandoned short names of plug-ins from one Latin letter in favor of simple and clear names that clearly describe the processing.

Apparently, the u-he Uhbik 2 will consist of ten effects:

  1. Q
  2. Tremolo
  3. Phaser
  4. Flanger
  5. Runciter
  6. Compressor
  7. Delay
  8. Grain Dad
  9. Ambience
  10. Shifter

Interface images of the nine instruments were published by Urs Heckmann on the KVR forum. Uhbik Q equalizer will be shown later - the design of the plugin workspace is not ready yet.

In addition to the redrawn elements, the plug-ins have envelope and LFO sections on the right side of the window, as well as a separate area with additional menus. The content of the additional menus area will vary in content depending on the plugin.

As Heckmann noted, open beta testing of the kit will start soon, and anyone will be able to participate. Instructions on how to participate will be published when public testing of the effects begins. The beta test start date will be announced at a later time, after the developers have "fixed a few small bugs", the executive emphasized.

The developers have not mentioned when the stable version of the effects bundle will be released. The plug-ins are expected to be available in early 2026.

However, as the history with u-he Zebra 3 shows, the release date can change significantly. The developers released a simplified version of Zebralette 3, based on Zebra 3, and promised an imminent release of a full-length synthesizer. However, they later revised their plans. Despite the plug-in demonstration, development remains in the alpha stage.
