May 12, 2025

At Superbooth 2025, the company revealed the release of the Teenage Engineering Field System line of synthesizers and instruments in black. No other changes are planned except for the color of the body.

The Field System line of compact electronic instruments consists of five devices:

  1. TP-7 - is a portable digital recorder with three customizable jacks for inputs, outputs, and headphones. It has a built-in microphone and a USB port for connecting external devices.
  2. TX-6 - is a compact mixer that supports six stereo channels or 12 mono channels. Its channels have individual sends for effects, equalization, and compression; a built-in MIDI slope; synthesis and drum machine functions.
  3. CM-15 - is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone with three gain settings and a built-in preamplifier. It features an unusual body design.
  4. OP-XY - is a hybrid musical instrument and sequencer that combines the capabilities of the OP-1 and OP-Z synthesizers. The company claims that the OP-XY is the most advanced sequencer on the market.
  5. OP-1 field - is an advanced, compact digital workstation that functions as a synthesizer, drum machine, and sampler, among other devices. It is an evolution of the conventional OP-1, which has been in production for over 10 years.

Initially, the devices were only available in a silver housing color. Now, models will be available in black.

Despite the announcement of the black version of the Field System, not all devices in the series will be available in the new color. For example, the microphone, mixer, and recorder will be available in black. However, the OP-1 field will not be available in the new color. Additionally, the OP-XY will initially be available only in the dark version.

From a technical standpoint, these devices are identical to the original instruments, which were released with a silver body. The company has no plans to release limited-edition versions of the devices with different functionality.

The Teenage Engineering Field System Black will go on sale on June 10, 2025. Priced similarly to the silver models, the black instruments will range from $1,199 to $1,999, depending on the device. Get more details about the new products on the official Teenage Engineering website.
