The Sonarworks Virtual Monitoring PRO headphone calibration system uses a binaural microphone to accurately capture a room's acoustics. According to the manufacturer, users can then recreate this sound environment wherever they go. YOUR Studio on YOUR Headphones. Anywhere.
The developers noted that the idea behind the system is to "take the sound of your control room with you" and "mix music in your headphones anywhere, just like in your studio." The program takes a snapshot of the room's acoustic response and saves it as a profile. This profile is then activated in the program to correct the sound for the user's ears.
The system consists of software and a USB microphone with two mini capsules. The latter are inserted into the ears like compact wireless headphones.
The program analyzes the room and records its response to sound, taking into account the monitors' sound. When building a profile, the characteristics of the head and ears are also considered — the mini-capsules are necessary precisely for this purpose.

Profiles are created using the DSP system and then applied to another Sonarworks system, SoundID Reference. Profiles can also be recorded in hardware calibrators, such as the Audient ORIA Mini introduced earlier.
However, the developers note that the created set of presets is intended exclusively for use with headphones. This allows you to take the sound of your studio with you.
The company clarified that you can record anything with the system, including the sound of a car, living room, rehearsal space, or other rooms. This enables you to collect multiple multidirectional profiles to verify the mix before sending it for further processing.
You can apply your own settings to profiles to customize them. For example, you can ignore the acoustically optimized monitor outputs or build a profile "as is."
