Moby's compositions are distributed free of charge via the mobygratis platform. Downloads are made without prior registration, subscription to mailing lists or other conditions.
According to the musician, the goal of the campaign is to "provide modern content creators with "quality" free instrumental music that can be used without hassle. The tracks are intended for film, student work, and video game design, and will be useful to composers, influencers, choreographers, remixers, and "creators of other kinds." The composer noted that content on the mobygratis platform has been used in the sound design of more than 10,000 films over the past 20 years.
The music is distributed in MP3 and WAV (uncompressed) formats. In addition, users can download multi-tracks, broken down by track, so that musicians can use parts of Moby's compositions in their works. To speed up the search for suitable tracks on the platform's website, there are filters by category, mood, duration and tempo.
To download the compositions, you need to visit the mobygratis website. All tracks are presented individually with the possibility of previewing. It is not possible to download the whole catalog of free songs at once. Well, bottom line, a very special thanks to Moby!
Comment from the CEO of SoundGale.comWhat can I say? - First of all, Moby is a legendary artist and some of his tracks will never disappear from my playlist. You may not even know who Moby is, but there's a 100% chance you've heard his tracks in commercials or as the soundtrack to a new movie. Now for his 500 royalty-free tracks. I visited the site and listened to almost all the tracks presented on the site, and I would like to point out the convenient filter for navigating through the tracks located on the left side.
I'll be honest about the material itself. I was disappointed with it, I only took a few tracks as notes. And I immediately had a question in my head: "I wonder if these tracks didn't have Moby's name on them, would they be as interesting? - The answer is no. After all, modern audio stocks and subscription-based platforms with royalty-free sounds (like everyone's favorite "Splice") offer much higher quality material because it's filtered. Still, with all due respect to Moby for his work, any musician or content creator will probably be able to find a few of his tracks out of the 500 available. And don't forget that Moby is 60 years old, and he has another respect for his work at such an advanced age!
Let us know in the comments if you liked these 500 royalty-free tracks and which ones you picked up, let's have a discussion about it.
