The company announced the release of the updated version of Apple Logic Pro 11.2 in an official press release. The updated version includes an improved Stem Splitter, a Flashback Capture background recording function, and ChatGPT chatbot support.
The Apple Logic Pro 11.2 update focuses on enhancing existing features and introducing new capabilities. According to the company, the update aims to take the convenience and comfort of production for electronic music and hip-hop producers to the next level.
The Stem Splitter feature, introduced in an earlier update, has been improved to enhance performance. For instance, users can now process older recordings and demo tracks with greater detail. Apple noted that the split algorithms have been enhanced to improve the cleanliness and accuracy of the final results.
Stem Splitter now supports guitar and keyboard tracks, and can select channels with these instruments from finished recordings. A set of presets for common stem set variants has also been added to the splitter.
Additionally, the tool now has a separate submix for selecting stems from different parts of a song. This feature allows you to create a set of stems or pull a specific instrument from a specific time period onto a separate track.
Logic Pro 11.2 also has a Flashback Capture feature that secretly records played material. According to the description, this feature reconstructs the audio and MIDI information played when the record button was not pressed. The workstation records the signal coming into the computer in the background, allowing you to turn it into a track or part of a track with a few clicks.
Flashback Capture can work in cyclic mode. Once activated, it continuously records in the background, and the workstation creates a set of takes for later selection. This allows you to record individual parts during rehearsals.
The content library has been expanded with a set of drum and bass (DnB) Dancefloor Rush samples and sounds. This collection brings together over 400 loops, drum kits, one-shots, and live loops. It is available for Logic Pro users on macOS and iPadOS. Additionally, the software received two sound packs: Magnetic Imperfections, which contains signals recorded on analog tape; and the Tosin Abasi Signature Pack, which contains sounds from guitarist Tosin Abasi.
The changes affect Logic Notepad's built-in text editor. For instance, users can now use ChatGPT to search for ideas related to chords, lyrics, and other content. To use this feature, your device must have macOS 15.4 installed and Apple Intelligence with the ChatGPT extension must be available and activated. But this feature is currently only available in a few regions, including the US, Australia, and Canada.
It should be noted that the Learn MIDI function became available for users of Logic Pro on iPad. With it, you can link frequently used controls, buttons, and faders to the controls of connected MIDI controllers. The developers believe that this feature will speed up and simplify the workflow while adding more tactility to the music.
The Logic Pro 11.2 update is already available to all users. You can download the update via the Apple App Store. A full list of changes in Logic Pro 11.2 is available on Apple's website.
