Cream Guitars announced the release of an unusual DaVinci guitar with a color E-Ink display on its official website. The digital, paper-based screen covers the entire body of the instrument.
Using an E-Ink display substrate allows users to freely change the color of the guitar body. The display supports multiple colors, enabling guitarists to design a unique electric guitar.
Colors and patterns can be changed in real time. Control is via a mobile app after connecting the instrument to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth.

According to Notebookcheck, the guitar uses a large E-Ink Prism 3 panel that does not emit light and consumes minimal energy. Users can choose from seven colors: white, black, yellow, orange, blue, red, and green. These colors can be applied to 64 segments to create patterns.
The app allows you to not only choose the color scheme but also automate pattern changes. For example, you can set the speed and order of color scheme changes, as well as other parameters.
Externally, the instrument resembles a typical Gibson Explorer electric guitar—the body's shape is clearly inspired by the famous instrument made by the Nashville-based guitar manufacturer. Despite the modified headstock and smoother body edges, it is unclear how Gibson will react. The company has previously taken legal action against subtle similarities between guitars and its own products, even filing a pre-trial claim against Donald Trump.

The body and neck of the Cream Guitars DaVinci are made of maple, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. The instrument has a scale length of 25.5 inches. It is equipped with Ratio Graphtech locking tuners. There are three colors to choose from for the hardware: gold, black, and chrome.
Fishman Fluence pickups are installed in the neck and bridge for sound output. These pickups have a coil split feature that guarantees a wide range of sounds.
Cream Guitars has announced that the DaVinci will be released as a limited edition, with only 85 instruments to be produced by the workshop. The electric guitar costs $3,500 USD and is scheduled to be delivered in July 2026.
