Audeze LCD-5s Release – flagship planar magnetic headphones

January 24, 2026

The American audio equipment manufacturer Audeze has unveiled its new LCD-5s headphones, an evolution of the company's line of professional planar magnetic devices. This model replaces the original LCD-5 headphones, which debuted in 2021 at a price of $4,500.

The LCD-5s feature improved 90-millimeter planar magnetic drivers. Unlike traditional dynamic drivers, planar technology places a thin membrane with conductive tracks between arrays of magnets to ensure a more even distribution of force across the entire diaphragm area. Audeze has used its proprietary ultra-thin Parallel Uniforce diaphragms in combination with SLAM (symmetrical linear acoustic modulator) technology.

The LCD-5s' technical specifications include a frequency range of 5 Hz to 50 kHz, which exceeds the threshold of human hearing and is geared toward high-resolution audio playback. The total harmonic distortion is claimed to be less than 0.1 percent at a sound pressure level of 100 dB. The headphones have an impedance of 30 ohms; however, the manufacturer recommends using an amplifier with a power output of 500 milliwatts or more to realize the headphones' full potential. The maximum power consumption is five watts.

The Audeze LCD-5s headphones weigh 475 grams. The package includes a balanced cable with a four-pin XLR connector, as well as 6.3- and 3.5-mm adapters and an aluminum carrying case. The headphones cost $4,500. For more information, please visit the product page on the official Audeze website.
