Ableton has released an updated version of its iconic digital audio workstation (DAW) as a public beta — Ableton Live 12.3. This version offers several features requested by users.
The Live 12.3 Suite and the Push 3 Standalone controller now have a stem separation function. This feature allows you to isolate up to four stems (such as vocals, drums, and bass) from any audio clip in Arrange, Session, or Browser modes. The function is based on advanced Music.AI algorithms. Splice users can now access the Splice library directly from their DAW browser. The sound search feature quickly finds samples that match the rhythm and harmony of the user's track.
It is now possible to copy a clip or selected audio fragment and paste it as Bounced Audio onto any track using the Paste Bounced Audio function. Other new features include: improved Auto Pan-Tremolo (new user interface and expanded modulation controls), now available in Move, Note, and Live Lite versions; the Sting instrument (adapted from the popular Acid bass line generator) and Patterns (for instant percussion rhythm creation); all built-in instruments, audio and MIDI effects in Live now have an A/B function that allows you to quickly compare two parameter states; Push 3 users in the latest version of Live now have new ways to create music using the instrument's expressive pads, as well as a number of features that extend its functionality as a standalone music creation center.
After the beta testing period ends, Ableton Live 12.3 will be available to all Live 12 users free of charge.
