The developer announced the release of the updated acid-generator, Iftah Sting 2, on the official project page. This Ableton Live DAW add-on imitates the Roland TB-303 synthesizer sequencer and offers an expanded range of sounds and functions.
Compared to the first version, Sting 2 has an improved, more user-friendly interface and clearer pattern functionality. Changes have also been made to the algorithm, which now provides greater musical consistency, especially in the low-frequency range.
It should be noted that the updated algorithm works in parallel with the original algorithm used in the first version of the add-on. Users can freely switch between the two algorithms to achieve the desired result.
Sting 2 generates patterns and allows users to edit and modify them in real time. The main interaction points are the TYPE and DENSITY parameters. The former determines the stylistic direction of the pattern, and the latter sets the generated part's overall complexity.
Additionally, the plugin provides control over the number of notes in the pattern, as well as their deviation and accentuation. Users can upload the pattern as a MIDI region to a track in their digital audio workstation (DAW) or to any folder on their computer. According to the developer, patterns can be available for use immediately after generation.
Additional innovations include the ability to deeply customize the design of created patterns. The built-in modulation matrix supports working with aftertouch, slide, and velocity parameters. Additionally, the plugin has a performance revitalization mode that makes patterns sound more "organic."
Sting 2 is compatible with Ableton Live and Push 3 controllers. According to the creator, the latter makes the plugin a handy tool for live performances.
Sting 2 is distributed via the developer's page on the Gumroad platform. To download the files, specify the price you are willing to pay for the plugin. However, the developer allows for completely free use of the product — to do so, specify the number "0" in the cost field.
Sting 2 is compatible with Ableton Live 11 or newer and Ableton Push 2, Push 3, and Push 3 Standalone controllers. The operating system on the user's computer can be any type.
