A Guitar Maker crafted an electric guitar out of Doughnuts – all the "Donuts" were cut out by hand

August 12, 2025

Guitar maker Artem Mayer presented his project: the "Donut Guitar," an electric guitar made from donuts. The instrument was created as part of the Copper Guitars workshop.

Mayer noted that he participated in the project as an artist for whom music and art are inseparable. This electric guitar has become the most outrageous and unusual creation of the workshop.

Unlike many other unusual instruments, Mayer's guitar does not use real sweets covered in epoxy resin. Each donut is carved by hand, painted, and varnished on the body of the instrument.

The guitar maker noted that the instrument was the result of a five-year search for inspiration and a long journey of experimentation, ideas, and creativity. The process of creating the electric guitar was captured on video. In total, the master shot more than 12 hours of footage, from which he compiled the best moments and most vivid shots demonstrating his work.

The video shows all stages of the Donut Guitar creation. The master also shared details about the creation process and his search for materials. He stated that he perceives the resulting product as a pop art object that combines music and contemporary art.

What will happen to the guitar next is unclear. It may be exhibited at music exhibitions.

Our editorial team loved this masterpiece - the vibe of the animated sitcom The Simpsons is approved!
