Drawmer has released the 1979 1U channel strip, which is a modern take on the classic channel strip, combining a versatile microphone preamp with a full-featured EQ section and vintage-style compression.

The new product is a 1U rack-mountable device equipped with a microphone/line/instrument preamplifier offering up to 66 dB of gain. This preamplifier works well with low-power ribbon or dynamic microphones, as well as modern condenser models. The Lift function adjusts the gain in real time depending on the input audio signal. This allows users to reduce the dynamic range of the incoming audio source without introducing compression artifacts.

The three-band parametric equalizer features high- and low-frequency shelf filters adjustable to seven different frequencies and a mid-frequency peak filter with a choice of nine frequencies. All three bands provide ±12 dB of gain. The midrange band has a switch that provides a narrower bandwidth. The vintage FET compressor boasts a Soft-Knee parameter and can be used for any task, from subtle vocal correction or "glueing" mixes, to more expressive compression of drums and other instruments.

It is also worth noting that you can disable the equalizer and compressor separately. The Swap button lets you change the order of the sections in the device's audio signal chain. The output section features a WET/DRY MIX control for the equalizer and compressor sections, as well as a GAIN control, a BYPASS switch, and an illuminated volume level indicator.
The Drawmer 1U Channel Strip 1979 will be available for purchase at an estimated price of $1,400. Visit the product page on the official Drawmer website for more detailed information about this channel strip.
