The Japanese audio equipment manufacturer BOSS has released the PX-1 guitar pedal, which has a built-in app that emulates the company's classic effects pedals. In addition to the eight included pedals, users can download eight additional ones.
BOSS implemented Plugout FX technology from its parent company, Roland, in the PX-1 pedal. This technology enables users to transfer certain plugins to compatible equipment. Roland first introduced this concept with the AIRA System-1 synthesizer and later improved upon it with the System-8 synthesizer.
The BOSS PX-1 Plugout FX uses a digital system that allows you to load VST files emulating classic BOSS pedal effects. The manufacturer released VST versions of these effects in May of this year.

Over the next few months and into next year, BOSS plans to release additional effects from its classic pedals, which will be available for purchase separately. All of the effects will also be available as VST files for Roland Cloud users.
